About

In business since 2008

A woman-owned, minority-owned business

San Antonio Residential Building Contractor: Registration # RBC-21-01579.

Philosophy: If there is still life in something, whether that is a piece of wood or a 100 year old building, we don’t want that to go to waste. We try not to give up on things. Some may see old, termite damaged flooring with pieces missing and spots sagging and send it to the landfill. Structure can be repaired. Foundations can be stabilized. Floors can be patched and filled. Decorative inlays can be matched. Our projects are usually a process of restoring what is salvageable, integrating other reclaimed materials, updating systems, renovating, and modernizing.

Jessica                                                                                                                                                                            Jess cut her teeth in real property in Tucson, AZ in 2000 working for a group of real estate, finance, investment and development companies purchasing properties at auction on the courthouse steps, working closely with title companies and attorneys to untangle complicated title issues, pulling permits, managing projects, raising funds, and managing and listing real estate as a licensed agent.  She worked for this group for 14 years, continuing as a consultant after relocating to Philadelphia PA and forming SQFT Concepts in 2008 with Lou.  As Principal Manager of SQFT Concepts, Jess ensures we have all the necessary licenses, certifications, insurance, bonds, filings, contracts and lien releases, as well as keeps all the books.  She is a qualified consultant to provide warrantee administration for new home builders.  Jess also does carpentry and concrete work, with a passion for restoration.  The best part of the job for her is still learning something new every day.

Jess enjoys volunteering and service and has served on the board of directors for several homeowners associations through the years as well as chaired positions on the Horatio B. Hackett Head Start Parent Advisory and executive committees. She has also volunteered for a non-profit community pool in her San Antonio neighborhood for the past 3 years, performing pool and grounds maintenance and repairs as well as serving on various committees and as a board member.

Lou                                                                                                                                                                            After studying design/architecture at San Antonio College and Texas A&M College Station, TX Class of ‘97, Lou worked with a couple of architecture firms trying to find the right fit. Finally at his last firm, Lou started working construction administration (CA) on several projects and realized his office life was over. Watching skilled tradesmen bring to life a building component from detailed drawings was a revelation and has impacted every drawing he has made since. After construction on his projects were over he set out on his own and never looked back. With a love of hardware, structure and architectural details, Lou honed his skills on projects like concrete counter tops, building tiny structures and custom furniture fabrication. After working a few jobs with Jessica, the duo was born!
